Varsity Contractors exceeds green cleaning through a sustainable cleaning system called JanOPS®. Varsity has implemented JanOPS in over 6,000 facilities throughout North America. The company plans to transition an additional 4,000 facilities over to the new operating system in 2009 along with all new sales. JanOPS is a unique janitorial operating system that integrates people, product and process into a system that gets facilities in SHAPETM—an acronym for the safety, health, asset preservation, performance and environmental results JanOPS is designed to deliver. Varsity’s SHAPE cleaning strategy permeates every aspect of the operating system—thus affecting all the factors of sustainability.

JanOPS is designed to create value through a triple bottom-line resulting in social, economic and environmental benefits. Socially, JanOPS elevates the cleaning specialist by recognizing their true contribution to society as protectors of public health, preservers of assets and contributors to improved indoor and outdoor environments. The recognition JanOPS provides enables Varsity to gain its cleaners’ voluntary effort. A surplus of voluntary effort leads to a greater commitment to cleaning for SHAPE, which creates a healthier indoor environment for building occupants. Economically, JanOPS improves performance by reducing waste, inconsistency and costly errors resulting in improved financial performance. Environmentally, JanOPS reduces the cleaners’ environmental footprint, providing a comprehensive green-cleaning solution.
